Small-screen trash and treasures
2008 had its share of television highs and lows. Hollywood bounced back from the 2007 Writers Guild of America strike and viewers indulged in a glut of reality and trash TV (we're calling you out, VH1). From the cable paradigm shift that has Showtime edging out HBO to the amazing political theater that saw Barack Obama make history, Names checks in with some of our favorite media sources for the ultimate TV in '08 rewind.
Worst of the worst? The Nov. 20 episode of "Grey's Anatomy," called "In the Midnight Hour." Says EW.com: "Izzie (Katherine Heigl) had hot, loud sex with the ghost of Denny (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), a nosedive into magical realism so ludicrous that you just shrugged when Sadie (Melissa George) sliced herself open so the interns could practice an appendectomy. Oh, also: Someone got a 'fecal transplant.' "
