Tony Award winners (and former Spamalot co-stars) David Hyde Pierce and Sara Ramirez are set to announce the 2008 Tony Award nominations. The pair will name the nominees live from The New York Public Library for Performing Arts at Lincoln Center on May 13.

Hyde Pierce, who is currently starring in Curtains, is famous for his Emmy-winning portrayal of Niles Crane on the long-running sitcom, Frasier. Ramirez, known for her role on TV's Grey's Anatomy, has appeared on Broadway in The Capeman, The Gershwins' Fascinating Rhythm and A Class Act. She won a Tony for her performance as The Lady of the Lake (opposite Hyde Pierce's Sir Robin) in Spamalot in 2005.

Grey's Anatomy star is man of honour

THERE’S something about a TV doctor that can still set the pulses racing. Hollywood actor Patrick Dempsey is testament to the fact. Just when he’d thought his career was hitting the “guest appearance” phase, along came Grey’s Anatomy – officially the most watched drama series on US television – and the role of lady-killing neurosurgeon Dr Derek Shepherd.

"Iron Man" is a super-sized hit fit for a super hero

Friday night the Jon Favreau-directed Marvel Comics film took in $32.5 million at the box office. That sets the stage for a $90 million-plus weekend.

It's not a bad vindication for star Robert Downey Jr., who might be the first actor to get awards notice out of a comic book film. But it's his tremendous performance that drives "Iron Man" and has made it into something a cut above the usual fare.

"Made of Honor," the other new release of the week, is doing OK, too. Somewhat based on Patrick Dempsey's popularity from the TV drama "Grey's Anatomy," "Made of Honor" looks like it will clear $15 million for its first weekend. That number should assure it a decent run and a profit.
