At '27 Dresses' premiere, Heigl opts for silver instead of Globes gold

LOS ANGELES — On the same night Katherine Heigl premiered her film 27 Dresses (in theaters Jan. 18) and donned a glittering, knee-length Bill Blass silver dress to walk her first red carpet in 2008, the actress found out that her brightly-lit new year would, in fact, be one dress short.

Katherine Heigl's Honeymoon Highlight? Piña Coladas!

Katherine Heigl still had that honeymoon glow as she walked the red carpet Monday night for the L.A. premiere of her romantic comedy 27 Dresses.

So what does the actress – who wed musician Josh Kelley Dec. 23 during a Christmas-themed ceremony in Park City, Utah – remember most from her whirlwind Mexican getaway?

"Ahhh, the Piña Coladas!" she told PEOPLE. "Oh my God, Cabo! The Esperanza [resort] and Piña Coladas – it doesn't get a lot better."

The Grey's Anatomy star, 29, turned serious, though, when asked by a reporter about Britney Spears's recent meltdown.

"I can't possibly imagine what that young girl is going through," she said. "I just hope ... that even with all this attention, people can find it in their hearts to be compassionate and not be so judgmental. She is obviously in a great deal of drama and pain, and that's a horrible thing for someone to go through in front of the entire world – and I'm sorry for her."

Katherine Heigl On The Globes, Her Wedding & Playing A Perpetual Bridesmaid

The always-outspoken Katherine Heigl was one of the first stars to come out and say she would not cross the picket line and attend the Golden Globes and in a new interview with Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson, she continued to stick to her guns.

So what did she think about the newest development in the writers strike – the Hollywood Foreign Press’ decision to cancel the Golden Globes?

“I think it's really important for the writers and their fight and I support that,” Katherine said. “It’s disappointing though, I really, really love that night.”

Though she remained strong in her support for the writers, nothing could keep Heigl from smiling at the premiere of her romantic comedy, “27 Dresses.”

She plays a perennial bridesmaid, but in real life, she wed singer Josh Kelley a little over two weeks ago.

“What was the best thing about it?” Shaun asked.

Without Golden Globes, red carpet fashion also on hold

NEW YORK (AP) — Katherine Heigl's stylist went on vacation last week to Mexico. Makeup artist Pati Dubroff's cellphone and BlackBerry have gone extraordinarily quiet.A change in format for Sunday's Golden Globe Awards from a jovial awards dinner and ceremony to a news conference doesn't just mean disappointed award winners — it means a rolled-up red carpet.

Think of all the glorious gowns that will go unworn.

It was unclear if celebrities — even the nominees — would attend the untelevised ceremony because they still might have to cross a picket line of the Writers Guild of America, and the actors' own union encouraged its members to skip the event in a show of solidarity. That means no wardrobe analysis Monday morning, no best dressed-worst dressed lists, no new designer name on the lips of every fashion fan. Stylists, makeup artists, hairdressers and all those that run the marketing machines in Los Angeles find themselves with unexpected time on their hands.

Stylist Nicole Chavez says a beautiful dress was picked out weeks ago for Heigl, a supporting actress nominee for Grey's Anatomy, but they always knew Heigl might not get to wear it. Chavez also didn't make any special requests for a custom-made gown, something she has done in the past, because she didn't want to waste designers' time or money.

Josh Loses Wedding Ring on Honeymoon with Katherine

Katherine Heigl's honeymoon with Josh Kelley got off to a very rocky start.

The two, who were married last month in a romantic, snow-filled Utah ceremony, were forced to rearrange their Mexican vacation when Katherine forgot her passport!

"He says, 'Do you have your passport?' And I went, 'No,'" Katherine told "Extra" last night at the premiere of her new film, "27 Dresses." "We had to go back to LA to get it!"

When "Extra" asked Josh if he could believe the mistake, he turned to his new wife and laughed, "Yes!"

But Josh shouldn't joke: Their entire honeymoon was almost a complete disaster.

"He lost his wedding ring 24 hours after the wedding in the snow, in Utah," Katherine revealed. "But my brother found someone with a metal detector and they found it!"
